Agape Prison Outreach
After facing a life behind bars, Pastor Roy always remembers his brothers and sisters facing the same fate. Agape Prison Outreach (APO) started almost as soon as he was set free to return to the prisons and share the Bible. “The Word of God is our only chance to be set free and stay free,” says Pastor Roy, with Bible in hand. “If we don’t have this in our lives, all is lost.”
APO consistently goes into the prisons to set captives free spiritually and, hopefully, physically via intentional programs of worshipping God in spirit & truth. APO does concerts, revivals, Bible studies and journaling. They also do special events in places like Saguaro Prison, Arizona; where almost 1,700 Hawaii inmates currently reside. Headliner Hawaii celebrities — Da Braddahs, Henry Kapono, the Katinas, and others — pop by loaded with Hawaii snacks and Bible journals.
The breakthrough comes as the prisoners watch a video of their children at Camp Agape … that’s when hardened hearts break into free-flowing tears. As the program comes to a close and the altar call is given, almost all the inmates surrender themselves to Jesus. Their children’s changed lives inspire them to change their lives forever too!
